Born and raised in Louisiana, bass-baritone John Dominick III has wowed audiences around the country with his robust voice and commanding stage presence. Highlights from his 2018 season include Colline (LA BOHÈME)  with New Rochelle Opera, King of Egypt (AÏDA) with Knoxville Opera and Gunermanz (PARSIFAL)  and Wotan in (DAS RHEINGOLD) with the Metropolitan Opera Guild. This season, he will return to the Metropolitan Opera Guild to sing a showcase concert of Verdi and Wagner arias, premiere the role of Escamillo (CARMEN) with Regina Opera and debut with St. Petersburg Opera as Sparafucile (RIGOLETTO).
 
In previous seasons, Mr. Dominick debuted with New York City Opera as Inmate 4 (DEAD MAN WALKING) and with the Opera Orchestra of New York, conducted by Eve Queler, as Jacopo Loredano (I DUE FOSCARI). Other recent triumphs include the title role in DER FLIEGENDE HOLLÄNDER  and Crown (PORGY AND BESS) with the Princeton Arts Festival, Scarpia (TOSCA) with Regina Opera, Jack Rance (LA FANCIULLA DEL WEST) and Landgraf Hermann (TANNHÄUSER) with Apotheosis Opera, Wotan (DIE WALKÜRE) with New York Lyric Opera, Ferrando (IL TROVATORE) with the New York Opera Forum and New Rochelle Opera, Four Villains (LES CONTES D’HOFFMANN) with the Martina Arroyo Foundation and Opera Brooklyn, Don Alfonso (COSÌ FAN TUTTE) with the Delaware Valley Opera, Compere in Virgil Thompson’s FOUR SAINTS IN THREE ACTS with Encompass Opera, Pistola (FALSTAFF) with Sarasota Opera, and Bonze (MADAMA BUTTERFLY), and Sparafucile, both with Natchez Opera.
 
An enthusiastic performer of musical theatre and operetta, Mr. Dominick’s repertoire includes Frank Maurrant (STREET SCENE), Joe (SHOWBOAT), Sergeant (PIRATES OF PENZANCE), and the title role in THE MIKADO, among others. Mr. Dominick is also tremendously sought after as a recital and concert performer, and made his Carnegie Hall debut as the Bass Soloist in Mozart REQUIEM and C.P.E. Bach MAGNIFICAT with the Saint Cecilia Orchestra, under the direction of David Randolph. He has since returned to Carnegie Hall to perform in Verdi REQUIEM, Mozart GREAT MASS IN C MINOR, Handel MESSIAH Schubert MASS IN E FLAT MAJOR, and an encore performance of Mozart REQUIEM.  He has also appeared as the Bass Soloist in Dvorak TE DEUM with the Con Brio Ensemble and the Baritone Soloist in Brahms REQUIEM with Mystic River Chorale.
 
Mr. Dominick has received grants from the Licia Albanese Foundation, the Schuyler Foundation for Career Bridges, the Sergio Franchi Foundation, and The Wagner Society of New York. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in music from Louisiana’s Northwestern State University, where he was a piano and voice major.
