Bass-baritone Yuri Kissin has delighted audiences worldwide with his rich, warm voice and sensitive artistry. Figaro has become a signature role for Mr. Kissin in recent years, with performances at Opéra Imperial de Compiegne, Theatre Duo Besançon, La Coursive La Rochelle, Opéra de Rennes and Théâtre Nimes. Mr. Kissin’s many performances abroad include Basilio (IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA) and Frère Laurent (ROMEO ET JULIETTE) with the Israeli Opera, Haly in Moscow, Pandolphe (CENDRILLON), Masetto (DON GIOVANNI) and Don Alfonso with Perm State Opera (Russia), Medico (MACBETH) with the Teatro Real in Madrid, Leporello (DON GIOVANNI) with the Slovenian National Theater of Maribor, Don Alfonso at the Michailovsky Theater in St. Petersburg, Orlik (MAZEPA, Tchaikovsky) and Le Médecin (PELLEAS ET MÉLISANDE) at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Notary (DER ROSENKAVALIER) with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, and Portier (LADY MACBETH OF MTSENSK) with the Opéra de Monte Carlo. An experienced concert artist, Mr. Kissin has sung Janacek’s MESSE GLAGOLITIC with the Orchestre de Paris conducted by Pierre Boulez, Chapochnikov’s POISONED GARDEN with the Orchestre National de France, and Mozart’s REQUIEM with Orchestre à Limoges, among others. Mr. Kissin is a graduate of the Opera National de Paris Studio program and is now frequently featured on their mainstage. He has sung over 300 performances with the company, including productions of WAR AND PEACE, TOSCA, PARSIFAL, «K» (Manoury), DON CARLOS,BORIS GODOUNOV, EVGENY ONEGIN, LA TRAVIATA, CAPRICCIO, ARIADNE AUF NAXOS, LULU, LES DIALOGUES DES CARMÉLITES, MADAMA BUTTERFLY, LES CONTES D’HOFFMANN, SALOME, DIE FRAU OHNE SCHATTEN, ARIANE ET BARBE BLEUE, RIGOLETTO, MACBETH, BILLY BUDD, FRANCESCA DA RIMINI, GIANNI SCHICCHI, LA CERISAIE, and KHOVANTSCHINA. Mr. Kissin was born in Russia and emigrated to Israel as a teenager. He completed his education at the University of Tel Aviv and began his professional career performing with the New Israeli Opera and various Israeli orchestras. He currently makes his home in France. |
